I grew up knowing I was part Indo-Fijian, but I didn’t grow up fully connected to my culture. What I did have around me growing up in Australia was the Pasifika community. I'm talking shared corned beef and rice at school, Hāngī after rugby and touch footy tournaments, jamming to pasifika reggae tunes and the warmth of island families who made everyone feel welcome and included.
As I got older, I wanted to understand my own roots more deeply. I started researching Pasifika cuisine and culture, especially Fijian food to learn more about where I come from. That curiosity led me into the kitchen, exploring popular Pasifika baked goods and desserts that really deliver those island flavours.
But here’s the honest part: I’m a lazy baker. I love good food, but I don’t like measuring, levelling or being precise. I’m a “bit of this, bit of that” kind of cook and baking doesn’t always love that. I wanted convenience, simplicity, and flavour and I didn’t see anything on the market that offered Pasifika baking in an easy, ready-to-use way.
So Pasifika Bakes was born.
A brand built for people who want the flavours of the Pacific without the fuss.
A way to honour heritage and community in a way that feels approachable.
A way to bring island warmth into any home whether it's Pasifika or not.
These mixes are for families, for food lovers, for the diaspora, and for anyone curious to try something new. They’re generous in true Pasifika size, nostalgic and simple. The kind of bakes you can share proudly around a full table.
Pasifika Bakes is my way of reconnecting, but also my way of making sure our flavours are accessible, convenient, and ready for anyone to enjoy.
One mix. One big tray. One shared bake at a time.
